  2.                 Matrox Mystique Accelerated Version 1.00Beta2

  5. This is the update patch to the RETAIL version of Tomb Raider.  This patch
  6. will accelerate Tomb Raider on the Matrox Mystique card. Note that it will run
  7. on 4MB Mystique boards ONLY.  We are still investigating the possibility of
  8. having a patch for 2MB Mystique boards.
  9.  
  10. Differences between V1.00Beta1 and this version:
  11.  
  12. [1] The Joystick support was put back into the game.
  13. [2] The game will now run properly with the Win95 AutoRun feature of the
  14. retail Tomb Raider CD-ROM.

  17. Installing the MGA Mystique patch for Tomb Raider:
  18.  
  19. 1) Install the original game.  If installing under Win95, the game will then
  20. run automatically after the installation is complete.  Please exit the game at
  21. this point as the Mystique patch is not yet enabled.

  23. 2) Unzip the tomb_mys.zip file into your Tomb Raider game directory.  The
  24. tomb.exe file should be overwritten and this tomb_mys.txt file will be added.

  26. 3) When under Win95, using the AutoRun feature of the Tomb Raider CD-ROM is
  27. the simplest way to run the game.  One could also create a shortcut on the
  28. Win95 desktop.  This shortcut will point to the tomb.pif file which has the
  29. required MS-DOS box properties.  Note that switching to the Win95 desktop
  30. while the game is running will terminate the game.  Even though all the Win95
  31. shortcut keys have been disabled in the tomb.pif, some keyboards still have
  32. the Windows Logo key that will interrupt the game and cause it to be
  33. terminated.  This is a not a great experience if the user didn't get a chance
  34. to save their game!  But, there exists a utility that allows the user to turn
  35. off the Windows Logo key while in a DOS Session.  It is up to the user to find
  36. such a utility.

  38. 4) When running under regular DOS, run the game by just typing 'tomb'.
  39. Running the game under regular DOS is recommended for better performance.

  41. A note on savegames: With the Mystique Tomb Raider patch, it is possible to
  42. load savegames that were saved with the VGA version of Tomb Raider.  But, it
  43. is NOT possible to do the opposite (i.e. load Mystique Tomb Raider patch
  44. savegames with the VGA version of Tomb Raider).

  46. A note on the Mystique patch color brightness level: Some monitors might make
  47. the Mystique version of Tomb Raider look too dark.  We are currently trying
  48. to improve this brightness level so as to look better in a future release of
  49. this patch.
